Winter Fare / Fair Play

the man walks out into the fiecest of winds,
armed with feed for birds in need.
for winter storms has stolen away,
the fruits and seeds of warmer days.
he hangs the feeders one by one.
birdy eyes spy on him from bushes.
a sea gull flies overhead.
watching and wishing...
now should the man,
lay down a line of fishes.
he could catch a sea gull,
for his own winter dishes.

Every HEART needs a HOME

a HOUSE must have a roof and walls to keep it from the cold.
it needs floors and windows and doors.
a house can be a house.
a tent can be a tent,
but a HEART needs a HOME.
we can soften the hard walls
and warm the floors.
we can exist between the bricks and stone,
or we could turn our house into our HOME.
where we can truely live and grow.
and discover that life is not all dust and dread.
we can make a home
for our own heart instead.

I am sharing a poetic thought,
inspired by a wartime film last night on the tv.
